Day 1: Arrival in Ushuaia
Upon arrival at the airport in Ushuaia, a local guide will be waiting for you to then bring you to your downtown hotel. For the remainder of the day, you will get the chance to explore the many cafes and restaurants tucked underneath the ice-capped mountains that surround Ushuaia.
Day 2: Set Sail for the Beagle Channel
Before boarding the Greg Mortimer ship, you will have time in the morning for final explorations of Ushuaia. In the late afternoon, we will set off for the Beagle Channel!
Days 3 – 5: The Drake Passage
You will get to experience the amazing landscapes as well as the soaring wildlife–the albatross, pretrel, and other majestic birds–as we cruise through the infamous Drake Passage (the area between the tip of South America and the top of Antarctica).
Days 6 – 8: Lemaire Channel
The stunning surrounding scenery will not disappoint as our ship enters the Lemaire Channel. Our next stop will be the Adélie penguins and if the ice cooperates, then we will also be able to visit a scientific station and historical huts on shore.
Days 9- 11: Return North
As we make our way back north, there will be more stops on land at Paradise harbor or Neko harbor. You will have the opportunity to see whales up close and visit the gentoo penguins of Cuverville Island!
Day 12: Return on the Drake Passage
On our final day on the ship, you will enjoy the Captain’s Four-Course Dinner, which includes house wines and beers! You will also have a chance to share photos and enjoy your last moments with friends you made during the voyage!
