Explore Antarctica at its most pristine! This trip combines the best of both worlds as those on the expedition have the opportunity to experience Antarctica from historic sites to adventure activities.
Midsummer is the best time to visit Antarctica, as the near-midnight sun allows life to flourish along the shore late into the night. The waters are active with whales and seals, and the shores with penguins hurrying to feed their chicks before winter.

The journey begins in Ushuaia, which is famous for its chocolates and incredible scenery. You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel, after that, the day is free to enjoy gorgeous Ushuaia!
Day 2: Explore Ushuaia and Board the Greg Mortimer and set Sail!
You’ll have most of the day to explore Ushuaia, before boarding the ship in the evening and setting sail for the Beagle Channel.
Days 3 – 5: Crossing the Drake Passage
While sailing south, keep an eye out for albatross and the trip’s first icebergs! While on board, the group will prepare for landings and have the opportunity to attend entertaining and informative lectures. Depending on ice conditions, you may have your first landings on the South Shetland Islands of Aitcho, Robert, or the Deception Islands.
Days 6 – 8: Explore the Antarctic Peninsula
The ship will go overnight through the Gerlache Strait and arrive at the incredible Antarctic Peninsula. From Zodiac boats, you will explore the many amazing features of the peninsula, including historic sites, penguin rookeries, scientific stations, icebergs, and seals hanging on ice floes. While here, the guides will try to make the absolute most of each day (and much of the nights, as there is so much daylight!), with shore excursions, searching for seals, and watching out for orca whales. Weather permitting, you will also have the chance to kayak through the icebergs (extra charge) and camp on the Antarctic ice!
Days 9 – 11: Northbound through the Drake Passage
As the ship heads back north for the Drake Passage, you will have time to look out for sea birds, exchange photos and stories with new friends, and enjoy a ceremonial final dinner aboard!
Day 12: Disembark and on to Your Next Adventure!
The ship will arrive in Ushuaia via the Beagle Channel early in the morning – you will have a nice breakfast on board and then disembark and move on to your next adventure!
