Day 1 – Tour Best of Mendoza Wineries
Welcome to Mendoza – Argentine wine country and heartland of the Malbec grape! A quick look around, and you’ll notice the breath-taking mountains, including the snow-capped Mount Aconcagua, America’s highest peak and a Mecca for climbers, rafters, trekkers–and sommeliers–across the world. Mendoza grapes grow in some of the highest growing altitudes on earth and under year-round sunny skies, providing Mendoza unique growing conditions, and delicious wine.
You’ll enjoy a shared shuttle service to your hotel, where you’ll unpack and unwind before an afternoon tour of the wineries.
Today, you’ll get acquainted with Argentine wine through winery tours of 2 of the region’s wineries, and with the expertise of a bilingual English/Spanish guide. You’ll get an in-depth look at the unique growing and production processes of Mendoza Argentina wine, and enjoy the opportunity to taste a few vintages!

After breakfast, you’ll embark on a full day excursion into the nearby Andes along the Mendoza River. Along the first leg of the hike, you’ll get amazing views of Mount Aconcagua and the Cordon del Plata range, as well as an up close look at the region’s colossal hydraulic Potrerillos Dam and a panoramic vista of Cacheuta valley.
Further ahead, you’ll experience the small scenic village of Uspallata, known for its “bovedas” kilns, used in the 1600s for extracting gold and other precious metals from the minerals mined nearby. You’ll continue onward to the indigenous”Huarpe” settlement, dating back 16 centuries.
As you continue hiking, you’ll experience the otherworldly Puente del Inca (Inca Bridge) where over millions of years, glacial movement and nearby hot springs carved a natural bridge into the mountain where the Las Cuevas river now flows.
To end the excursion, you’ll reach Las Cuevas village, a remote and historic border town between Chile and Argentina that rises an outstanding over 10,000 feet (3,200 meters) above sea level. In the late afternoon, you return to your hotel for a free evening to relax.
