From El Calafate to Torres del Paine, embark on a Patagonian adventure that highlights the best of these two countries.
Day 1 – Travel to Patagonia: El Calafate
Welcome to southern Patagonia! Today, you’ll arrive in El Calafate, named for a small Patagonian flower that blooms in the dry, intense climate. Located on the banks of Lago Argentino, the country’s largest lake, El Calafate is the national capital for glaciers. Most impressively, El Calafate is home to Perito Moreno Glacier, one of only several glaciers on earth still growing.
You’ll have the day to relax or explore on your on. Time permitting, take a hike to Laguna Nimez for a singular look at a Chilean Patagonia sunset.
Day 2 – Experience Los Glacieres National Park
After breakfast, you’ll enjoy a full day excursion in to Los Glacieres National Park. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park is home to the towering Perito Moreno Glacier. As you venture through the park, you’ll get unbelievable, up-close views of the glacier from easy-access viewing stations and walking paths.
A bilingual English/Spanish guide will accompany you to provide expert information and insight into these important natural wonders. Later on in the day, you’ll embark on a small boat cruise that will bring you up close to the immense 240 feet (80 meters) high ice walls! In the evening, you’ll be driven to your hotel in El Calafate.
Day 3 – Explore El Calafate
Today, you have the opportunity to take advantage of the park’s many activities as you’d like. Bike along the lake, hike the trails, or boat to the region’s more off-the-beaten-path glaciers.
Day 4 – Trek in Torres del Paine
In the early morning, you’ll transfer from El Calafate to Torres del Paine National Park in Chile for a full day excursion! Today, you’ll witness some of southern Chile’s most stunning natural landscapes, including Salto Grande, Laguna Amarga, and the famous towering granite peaks of Torres del Paine.
Throughout the day, keep a look out for wild guanacos that roam the windy plains, or Andean condors flying overhead. Enjoy a packed lunch, and the expertise of a naturalist guide.
You’ll head back to El Calafate for the night.
Day 5 – Say Goodbye to Patagonia
Today, you’ll transfer to the airport or bus terminal for your trip home.
