Join us on a full-day tour to the village of El Moreno, where you will live the life of the locals for a day and learn to craft some unique artisanal items.
In the region of Puna Jujeña in Northwestern Argentina tucks away a small village named El Moreno. Join us on this full-day tour as we bring you through an entire day in the field, 3600 meters above sea level at the foot of Nevado de Chañi.
You will join Flora, Clemente and their family, who live in a farm in El Moreno. On this tour, not only will you be able to create your own handicrafts, but you will literally spend the day living their daily lives – cooking with them and herding their llamas. As good hosts, the Flores family will also prepare a delicious tea of cocoa or pupusa for you, while they talk about their life stories.
Depending on when you go on this tour, if you join this tour during the annual Carnival season, you will also be able to see how the llamas will be dressed with colorful artisanal fabrics and pendants. After meeting the Flores family, you will also meet Yanina and Yesica – who will not only also tell you about their life stories, but prepare a sumptuous lunch that consists of empanadas, quinoa or a barbecue (depending on the season) that is cooked in a clay oven.
After lunch, you can take a stroll around the crops and find out about the watering methods and their unique techniques.
