Founded in 1983, the Belize Zoo is also a rescue center for abandoned and injured animals. It is the first facility of its kind to be fully accessible to animals with reduced or impaired mobility. Today, you can find different types of animals including birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals such as keel-billed toucans, scarlet macaws, jaguars, margays, ocelots and black howler monkeys.
