For those who are into knowing more about the history of the ancient Mayan civilization, this Lamanai Ruins tour is definitely made for you. Take a journey into history and explore Belize’s third largest Mayan site, the Lamanai ruins.
Starting off with a 1-hour car journey from Belize City, you will then take a leisure boat ride from Lamanai Junction, through a real jungle on a real jungle river. As you make your way along the river, you will see monkeys, baboons, snakes, parrots and maybe even a jaguar. Lamanai means “submerged crocodile” in the Mayan language – so don’t be surprised if you see a crocodile in the river, and be careful!
Upon arrival at the Lamanai ruins, spend the day climbing these well-preserved Mayan temples. And as your guide of Mayan descent brings you through the site, he will also tell you tales of his ancestors and stories of the past. Also, as this archaeological site is located beside New River Lagoon, so be prepared to see monkeys and different varieties of birds on large hardwood trees.
Cap off the trip with a sumptuous picnic lunch and some souvenirs that you can buy from the gift shop on site. What are you waiting for? Come join us!
