Go on a Beautiful Journey From La Paz to Salar de Uyuni

Day 1: Leave La Paz to go south

You will start your day very early from your hotel in La Paz, to begin your trip to Oruro. You are going to visit Machacamarca, an oasis of trees and the Museum of Trains. In Challapata, you will visit the church of Quillacas and then continue the journey to the Jayu Quta crater that was formed by a rain of little meteors. From there you will head towards the imposing Tunupa Volcano before reaching Tahua. You will end the day with a magical sunset reflected in the salt flats.

Transfer in: pick up from your hotel in La Paz at 07:00 a.m.
Meals: lunch, dinner
Accommodation: Tayka de Sal in Tahua

Day 2: Admire the stunning Salar de Uyuni

After breakfast, you are going to go to Ch’jini to climb the Cathedral hill and see the flooded Salar. Then you will visit a cave to see fossils of algae and millinery plants. You will afterwards have lunch in the middle of the Salar (and a visit the Incahuasi Island, if it is accessible). You will frequently stop to take pictures and to enjoy these magical scenarios. After dinner, you will admire a stunning starry sky!

Day 3: Dive into the local culture before going back to La Paz

On your last day, you are going to visit the family of Doña Eti and Don Héctor who will be waiting for you in the community of Tahua. You will then go with them to the herding of llamas, a typical activity of the area. After that you will climb the Tunupa Volcano to test your resistance at almost 4,000 meters (13,123.36 ft) above sea level. From there you will be able to enjoy a breathtaking view, perhaps one of the most incredible landscapes in the world. That place is called Mirador de los Salares.

At night, you will begin your trip back to La Paz where you will arrive around 02:00 am. This will be the end of this crazy tour from La Paz to Salar de Uyuni!
