This favela tour takes you through the streets of Rocinha and Vidigal, where community guides will explain favela life and their unique culture and history.

Discover Latin America’s largest favela by strolling through the alleys of Rocinha with a local guide. This tour will introduce you to favelas’ origins and why they exist, as well as their unique culture and history in Rio. In the community of Vidigal, community guides will explain how favela communities fight to empower one another and overcome a difficult living situation. You will see their art, cultural and historical centers, as well as the natural beauty that surrounds the area. From up there, you will have great views of Rio’s top attractions, including Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf, Copacabana, Ipanema, and São Conrado. You will also hear more about the Nós no Morro theater group, “Bailes funk,” and other cultural favela phenomena.
