Named after João Batista de Figueiredo Tenreiro Aranha, the first president of the Amazonas at the time of the empire, this city has recently shot to fame in the area of eco-tourism because of its abundance of water, flora and fauna, natural resources, caves and waterfalls. What’s more, the Ministry of Tourism in Brazil has identified over 100 waterfalls in the city alone, making this city one that is known for these natural beauties.
