Rio’s Botanical Gardens were founded in 1808 to acclimatize spice plants like cinnamon and nutmeg to Rio’s climate. It was opened to the public in 1922. The Gardens are open from 8:00 – 17:00 every day of the year, except Christmas and New Years (December 25 and January 1).
