You ready to hike Rio’s highest peak? Well, this Tijuca forest hike has that and so much more! Pico da Tijuca, the highest peak in Rio, is located in the middle of the Tijuca Forest, and overlooks most of the city, so you can imagine the how the view is from up here.
Before hiking, we will stop at Vista Chinesa and Cascatinha Taunay, Rio’s largest waterfall, both inside Tijuca Forest National Park. The trail starts at the idyllic Bom Retiro, a place up in the park, and lasts no more than one and a half hours. From there, we have a wonderful view to most of Tijuca Forest’s landmarks, besides the Maracanã and Engenhão stadiums, Guanabara Bay and a lot more.
