Visit the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park along the shores of the Emerald Lake and climb the mile-high Desolation Pass before reaching the top of the volcano and getting some breathtaking views of the surrounding lakes and mountains.
On this Osorno Volcano Day Hike, climb the mighty Osorno Volcano, one of the most famous and picturesque peaks in South America and one of the main Lake District attractions. You will admire one of the Lake District’s icons with its unique colors and white summit all throughout the year.
Your professional local guide will give you a lot of information about the fauna and flora of the area on your way up. Once you’ve climbed the volcano for a little while, enjoy some outstanding views of the Andes and an amazing volcanic environment.

You will begin the trek in the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park along the shores of the Emerald Lake (Lago Todos Los Santos) and climb the mile-high Desolation Pass (5,577 ft/1,700 m) between the Osorno and La Picada volcanoes. You will also see fascinating geological formations created by lava flow and cross fields of black ash carried down the mountain by glacial melt.
You will be able to see many different plants and birds during the trek, which you will learn all about thanks to your guide. Once up there, you will experience some amazing views of the Emerald Lake and the Patagonian Andes Mountain Range (including a line of volcanoes).
