Chepu is a region located in Castro. Castro is a southern city communing on Chiloe Island and Chile. It is a less-known tourist attraction in Chile where has fruitful natural resources. If you want to stay away from the crowdedness and explore the mysterious nature in Chile, start your journey in Chepu.
In your journey, you will go straight to 68 km far northwest from the main capital Castro and drive into the wildness. You will have a chance to taste “El curanto” which is an ancestral dish representing a crucial part of the culture and cuisine of the local people.
Besides, you will take a train to visit the forest and enjoy the natural local landscape. Moreover, you will take a bushwalk in the forest. You will discover the unique native rainforest species, such as millenarians Ulmos, Canelos, Lumas, ferns, lichens, and mosses. Also, if you are lucky enough, you would discover the native birds, including Chucao and Magellanic Woodpecker in the forest.
Furthermore, you will paddle on the Chepu rivers for 2-3 hours to relax and explore the wilderness deeper. You are able to seek other wildlife, such as Ringed kingfisher, Huillin and Coipo. What’s more, after the kayaking, you will have tea time and get some rest.
