Day 1 – El Calafate
Welcome to Patagonia! Located in the southern part of Patagonia, El Calafate is on the Patagonian steppe. The city is on the border of Lago Argentino (Argentina’s biggest lake), and is considered the capital of the glaciers. From the city you can visit the world famous Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the only glaciers in the world that is still advancing (instead of retreating).
Day 2 – Perito Moreno Glacier
Today is a full day excursion to Perito Moreno Glacier, in Los Glaciers National Park. A UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981, and home to one of the most stunning landscapes in Argentina, Perito Moreno Glacier is certainly a sight to see. Your bilingual local guide will provide you with all the information you might want to know, and things you might have never thought about. Upon arrival, you will have the chance to enjoy the stunning views of the glacier from the nearby walking trail and viewing platforms. You will also enjoy a Perito Moreno Glacier boat cruise that will take you up close to the enormous 80m (262 foot) high ice walls! In the early evening, you will return back to the hotel in Calafate.
Day 3 – Enjoy El Calafate

Day 4 – Calafate to El Chalten
In the morning, you will take a comfortable public bus, where for 3 hours you will be able to enjoy the desert of Southern Patagonia on the famous Route 40. Upon arrival to El Chalten, the bus will stop for 15 minutes at the Park Ranger office to give general explanations about the park, recommendations, etc. El Chalten is a top-rated trekking destination and is considered the Argentinean capital of trekking. Located at the base of the Fitz Roy Mountain, completely surrounded by glaciers, lakes, rivers and forest, it is truly a hidden gem of the south. This charming little village, that is also the start point for most paths, is a paradise for walkers and trekkers. On arrival you can explore the surroundings, take a stroll around a little waterfall, or just relax in the local brewery.
Day 5 – Hiking in the Mountains and Lakes of Chalten
Be prepared for an exciting day of wild nature! El Chalten offers a range of options for all levels of trekking. From the door of the hotel, you can go for a short 3 K walk, with views of the Rio de las Vueltas, lenga forest and spot all kind of birds (great woodpecker spotting opportunity). If you’re looking for great mountain views, in one hour and a half you can be at the stunning Cerro Torre view point. For trekking fans, continue all the way to Torre base or go for the 8 hours trek to the most impressive view of Fitz Roy by Laguna de Los Tres path (highly recommended!).This is a trek that becomes difficult toward the last bit but is definitely worth the effort.
You can choose where and when to go, and at your own pace, since all the paths are self-guided and very well marked and maintained. Upon arrival, you will receive all necessary trekking information so you can decide the best plan to make the best of your day.
Day 6 – Return to El Calafate
In the morning, you can choose any other trek and Chalten activities from a great variety that the National Park offers. In the afternoon, you will board the bus back to El Calafate. The three hours driving back will be a good opportunity to rest and enjoy the views from your window.

You will visit renowned parks such as Salto Grande, Laguna Amarga, Lago Pehoe, the Cuernos del Paine and of course, the famous Torres del Paine. These are definitely some of the best attractions in Patagonia! In the late afternoon, you will be dropped off at the Coffee Shop, El Ovejero, a cozy place to wait for the bus that will take you to Puerto Natales. Once you arrive in Puerto Natales, you will head to your hotel on your own. Puerto Natales is a small town in the base of the famous Torres del Paine.
