Itinerary

You’ll begin your day with a quick private transfer (~10 minutes) from your hotel in Puerto Natales to the trailhead at the Paredes family land. Here, you’ll begin your Cerro Dorotea hike. A climb of approximately 1800 feet (~650 meters), the scenic ridge makes for a short, but breathtaking, ascent.

Your trek to the summit will take about 1.5 hours, and upon arrival, you’ll enjoy spectacular views on all sides. See the Fjord of Last Hope winding through jagged mountains, Montt Gulf leading to the sea, and the Patagonian Steppe extending across Argentina. From the summit, you may get an opportunity to observe Andean condors, which nest in the ridge’s vertical walls and frequently fly overhead searching the mountain and valley for prey.

Your guide talk about region’s history, the early explorers and settlers who first colonized the unforgiving landscape, and the indigenous people who came long before. After enjoying the summit, you’ll continue along the ridge for a look at Puerto Natales from above, before beginning your descent and return to the nearby city.
