This tour is a real expedition where you will be paddling between icebergs in the middle of the southern ice fields, an experience you will not forget. The scenery around you in the Grey Lake and paddling towards the giant ice walls will be recorded in your mind forever.
Duration: Every day at 09:00/14:00/17:00 – 3 hours
Start and End Location: The tour begins and ends near Refugio Grey, located on the west side of the W circuit
Availability: From October to April
Miscellaneous: The minimum age is 16 and the maximum age is 65 years. Previous experience is not necessary.
Once you arrive at the Grey base camp, your guides will give you all the necessary kayak equipment that you may need for the iceberg kayaking, like neoprene suit, waterproof jacket, and boots, poogies (kayak gloves), skirt, and life jacket.
After this, there will be a safety meeting where they will show the kayak you will use, along with the paddle, the route and weather conditions. When you get to Grey Lake, your kayak expedition involves paddling near large floating icebergs to the east side of the grey glacier and approaching the giant ice walls.
While you are resting and enjoying this amazing place with all its beauty, your guide will offer a snack and a hot drink and if the weather conditions permit it, you will pass by the island called Nunatak on the way back.
