Overview

Hike to the heart of the Andes close to the border of Chile and Argentina on a small group tour led by an expert Mountaineering guide. Experience the Chilean country-side on the drive through the outskirts of Santiago. Be led through the twisting, snowy trails while your guide teaches you about Chilean flora and fauna. Don’t miss this chance to become an experienced hiker of the Andes.

Description

This trip will begin with accommodation pickups in Santiago before taking the drive out east to Cajón del Maipo. Your guide, as a Mountaineering expert, will determine the location will provide the best conditions for activity based on snow and weather conditions.

Our first stop will be at a small market where we’ll stock up before heading to the starting point of the hike. At the starting point your guide will instruct you on proper snowshoe use, explaining how to avoid wasting body energy.

It will be about 2.5 hours of ascent before we arrive at Aguas Panimavida where you’ll gaze in awe upon the mesmerizing landscape made up of jagged snow-capped peaks and the “El Morado” glacier towering in the background at 15,246 feet (4,467 meters). After heading deep into the Andes, we will break for a box lunch (typically made up of a sandwich, dry fruit, fruit, and juice).  Meanwhile, your guide will tell you stories about the surrounding mountains and volcanoes.

After this respite in the heart of Cajón del Maipo, your guide will lead the trek back down to the minivan. From there, if the group is in agreement we all will go to a local place for a dish and a beer before heading back to Santiago.
