Tour Information

Duration: 08:30 am – 21:00 pm
Start/End Location: Hotel pick-up/drop-off in Santiago
Difficulty Level: High (rocky terrain, 3-hour ascent to summit, high-altitude)

Your day will begin at 8:00-8:30am with hotel pick-up from Santiago and 1-hour transfer to San Jose in Maipo Canyon. In San Jose, enjoy a typical Chilean breakfast and take the opportunity to buy any extra snacks or water in town.

After breakfast, you’ll hop back in the van and drive another hour into the mountains to the trailhead. Your trek to El Morado Glacier will take approximately 3 hours. You’ll ascend difficult, rocky terrain with increasingly stunning mountain vistas. The ascent is difficult, but the view is worth the extra effort!

Upon arrival at El Morado Glacier, you’ll have time to relax, recharge, and enjoy complementary snacks before beginning your descent. The hike back down to the trailhead should take another 2 hours.

After arriving back at the van, you’ll drive back to Santiago (just over 2 hours) and get dropped off at your lodging.

This tour is definitely worth taking for the amazing Andes views! We went right after a week where it had snowed in the mountains so our hike was a bit more challenging, but that did not take away any of the experience of walking within the beautiful mountain range. Our tour guide made sure the group stuck together and that we had enough breaks. He also provided delicious snacks for us. Perfect trek for getting amazing, photoshop-like, captures.

Absolutely unbelievable! The incredible vistas coupled with our amazing guide made this day truly unforgettable. Unfortunately, I didn’t have sunglasses before the trek, but our guide was nice enough to let me borrow a pair free of charge!
