Travel to Aguas de San Ramón Park in the mountains surrounding Santiago. Take a day-long hike across hanging bridges and along stunning overlooks to reach the 100 foot high (~30 meters) Salto de Apoquindo Waterfall! Watch the sun set over Santiago on your trip down the mountain.
On this trip we’ll head to Aguas de San Ramón Park in the mountains surrounding Santiago where we’ll discover an incredible waterfall as well as native Andes flora and fauna. We’ll spend the day trekking over rivers, across hanging bridges, and along mountain lookouts to reach the Salto de Apoquindo waterfall. Once there, we’ll relax as we eat lunch. Your guide will also take the opportunity to explain the park’s history and give you ways to identify the various types of flora and fauna. During the trip back, we’ll get to watch the sunset and see a stunning view of the city.
Our adventure will begin with an 8:00am pickup at your accommodation. Our vehicle will bring you to the starting point at one of the area’s most popular gorges.
Once we reach the park, our guide will discuss the organization of the trip, hiking times and recommendations, and will lead you through some warm-up exercises. The trek to the waterfall will take about 3.5 hours, with the return trip taking about 2.5 hours. However, this can vary based on the group’s pace.
While hiking, we’ll get to see some of the flora and fauna and geological formations of the region and learn about the local geography. After climbing and crossing some estuaries, we’ll reach our goal of “Salto de Apoquindo”, an incredible waterfall surrounded by a pine forest and other native flora. Here is where we will eat lunch, rest, and take in the serenity of the mountains.
From there, we will take our return trip through the other side of the mountain, and along the way we will observe the different ecosystems on the northern and southern faces, caused by exposure to the sun. Also, we’ll see the valley of Santiago and, hopefully, a colorful sunset.
By around 18:00 pm you will be dropped back off at your accommodation to unwind following a long day in the Andean foothills.
