Experience the incredible Uyuni Salt Flats and some of the area’s best known features, including high altitude lagoons, museums, and hot springs in this 3 day, 2 night tour from Uyuni to San Pedro de Atacama (one way).

Important!

You will be entering Chile on this tour and required to comply with their visa requirements. You should check with your local Chilean consulate for fees and can see different international visa policies for Chile at this link.

Itinerary

Day 1: Uyuni – Salt Hostel Villa Martin

You will leave for your trip at 10:00AM and begin the tour with a stop at the train cemetery of Bolivia, where you can see some of the oldest trains in the country. You will then move on to see Colchane Town, the Salt Museum, The Salt Mines and ‘Eyes of the Salt Flat’, outlets for underground rivers in the flats. After this comes Incahuasi Island, a formation of rocks found in the middle of the Salt Flat where you will have stunning views all around.  Afterwards, the journey continues into Cactus Valley, and the final stop is after a short 30 minute walk in the Salt Flats where you will see the best panoramic views of the flat. This night you will stay in Villa Martin in a hostel made of salt!

Day 2: Salt Hostel – Colorado Lagoon

Day 2 begins with a trip to the Sora Canyon, where you will be able to see lots of diverse animals such as llamas and small deer. You will visit the Black Lagoon (Laguna Negra), Laguna Hedionda, Honda, and Siloli Desert. You will continue onwards to a point where you can see the Rock Tree (Árbol de Piedra), a great rock with volcanic origin that looks like a tree. After this, you will continue on to Colorado Lagoon, which is a nesting ground at times for over 30,000 flamencos! In the evening you will stay in a basic refugio near Colorado Lagoon.

Day 3: Colorado Lagoon – San Pedro de Atacama

On this day you will either continue on to San Pedro de Atacama, or you can also decide to return to Uyuni (just email us on info@keteka.com if you would like a return trip). If you continue to Chile you will begin this day by visiting the Geysers of the Morning Sun – incredible natural spouts of steam that sprout from the ground at over 90°C. Here you can also see pools bubbling from the heat of the lava beneath! After this you visit the Dalí Desert, named after Salvador Dalí as it features rocks which are reminiscent of the style he uses in many of his paintings. From here you continue to White Lagoon and Green Lagoon, both located at the foot of the impressive Licancabur Volcano. Finally, you will arrive at the border of Hito Valley at 10:00AM, where the transfer into Chile will continue. You can expect to arrive in San Pedro at 13:00PM.
