Positioned on the side of a mountain range, the park has characteristic flora and fauna typical with this land and an ecosystem dominated by cloud forests. The climate is cold and often rainy, due to the ascending humid air currents from the Magdelena Valley. Chicaque covers 300 hectares, with altitudes that oscillate between 2.000 and 2.700 meters above sea level. Hundreds of plants dominate the seven types of forests spanning Chicaque Natural Park, and inhabiting the park are hundreds of species of birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and arthropods.
