This hike will show you the hidden secrets of Colombia, the beauty of the flora, fauna and diverse wildlife which reside in the heart of this National Park.

Tour Information

  • Departure: 07:00 am from your accommodation or central meeting point (depending on group size)
  • Return: 17:00 (5 pm) either to your accommodation or the central meeting point.

Itinerary

This nature-filled day will commence early; your guide will pick you up from either your accommodation or a prearranged meeting point at 07:00 am before you head off deep into heart of Colombia’s natural wonderland.

Having appreciated the gradual changing landscape, as you go from an inner-city urban-scape to the centre of Chingaza’s alluring natural park; you will don your hiking shoes and start your hike through the unique wilderness. As you trek up and up, you will view the breathtaking Siecha Lagoons and appreciate the landscape that has created these vast valleys. Clothing the insane terrain, you will notice the remarkable páramos; these are representative of the importance of this National Park as they indicate an ‘evolutionary hotspot’, one of the Earth’s fastest evolving regions.

For lunch, your guide will take you to an exceptional viewing point so that you can appreciate your picturesque surroundings whilst devouring homemade, Colombian cuisine of, potatoes, rice, chicken, plantain and eggs, enveloped in a banana leaf (this can be altered according to dietary requirements).

The hike will continue after lunch, taking you through more iconic vegetation and landscape, before you are picked up by private transportation and taken back to your starting point (whether it be your accommodation, or meeting point).

Take the time in the evening to reflect back on the day and appreciate the wonderful and unique ecosystems you have experienced.

Itinerary Summary:

  • 7:00am – pick up at your hotel in Bogotá
  • 7:15 – 9:15am – private transport to Chingaza National Park
  • 9:15 – 12:00 – Hiking, stop for lunch at 12:00
  • 12:00 – 15:00 – Hiking
  • 15:00 – 17:00 – private transport back to Bogotá

Important Information

  • For an active adventurer; this excursion includes a 7.5 km hike into altitude of 3,600 meters.
  • This tour needs to be booked at least 2 days in advance. To book for a Sunday, please give us at least 1 weeks’ notice.
