Day 1: Arrive in Bogota
Welcome to your thrilling 9-day Colombia tour! Your guide will meet you in the El Dorado Airport and take you to your hostel. After check-in, your guide will take you to the city’s highlights surrounding the hostel. In the evening, you’ll enjoy free time to explore or rest after you trip.
Day 2: Explore a Traditional Villa
After breakfast, you guide will pick you up from your hostel to travel 3 hours to Villa de Leyva — an outstanding colonial town immaculately suspended in time. Take the afternoon to explore the cobblestone streets past white-washed facades and classic architecture. In the evening, you’ll return to Bogota.
Day 3: Get a Bird’s Eye View of Bogota
In the morning, travel to the emblematic Monserrate Hill, offering outstanding panoramic views of Bogota. Enjoy lunch then set out to the city of Armenia in the afternoon. Upon arrival to the Wanderlust Hostel, you’ll be greeted with a welcome drink and set out for a walking night-tour of the city. For dinner, enjoy a traditional meal at La Candelaria just outside the hotel.
Day 4: Explore and Have Fun at Coffee Park
After breakfast, set out for the National Coffee Park, which preserves the cultural and historic heritage of coffee in Colombia, and celebrates the country’s coffee tradition. You’ll have the day to explore the museum and exhibits, or go wild in the coffee-themed amusement park! The two sections of the park are connected by gondola, chairlift, and a peaceful ecological trail that winds through a small coffee farm.
After spending the day in the park, you’ll travel to the rural town of Quimbaya, where you’ll enjoy divine Colombian roast coffee before returning to the hostel.
Day 5: Walk among “Giants” in Cocora Valley
In the morning, set out for Salento where you’ll take a rustic Jeep ride into Cocora Valley for a 2-hour hike. Feel like you’ve entered the Jurassic Age as you walk through the lush valley under the towering presence of hundreds of the world’s tallest palm (and the national tree of Colombia)!
Enjoy lunch in Salento’s lower valley before continuing onward to Filandia for an authentic artesanal basket-weaving demonstration. In the late afternoon, take a short walk to a nearby viewpoint for a cup of hot coffee and a spectacular sunset over the valley.
Day 6: Hike to Don Leonel’s Coffee Plantation
Set out for the famous easy-going town of Pijao. Enjoy Pijao’s relaxed pace and stunning mountain views, then set out along a diverse hike on the nearby Gavilanes Route.
Along the route, you’ll enjoy lunch, then make your way to the ranch of Don Leonel Martines — one of the region’s most esteemed coffee growers. Here, he’ll lead you through the plantation and production facilities, and may even share his own outstanding and difficult personal history of guerrillas and revolutions that led him to where he is now.
Day 7: Visit Botanical Gardens and Travel to Medellin
Today, you’ll travel to the National Botanical Garden and butterfly conservation center. You’ll encounter stunning flower species and outstanding butterflies of all sizes and color as you explore the sweeping grounds.
Enjoy lunch with your group, then set out for your hotel in Medellin. The evening is yours to explore the El Poblado neighborhood around the hostel.
Day 8: Step into a Fairy-Tale at the Lakeside Villages of Guatape and Peñol
Today, you’ll set out for Guatape, an remarkable lakeside village that feels like it belongs in a fairy-tale more than in the real world. Climb the towering black Peñol Rock that looks out over the turquoise lakes weaving through lush farmland.
Explore the colorful nearby community of Peñol, then take a boat tour on the Peñol-Guatapé Dam. In this picturesque landscape, infamous cartel boss Pablo Escober once had his “La Manuela” farm. Relax, enjoy the view, and learn about the outstanding history of this seemingly calm countryside! Enjoy lunch in Peñol, then return to Medellin in the afternoon.
Day 9: Say Goodbye to Colombia
For your last morning in Colombia, set out for Paisa for one last adventure on your Colombia tour. Visit the small village overflowing with true Colombian culture you’ll fall in love with. Ride a cable car, visit the Park of Desires, or travel through the city center of Medellin before saying goodbye and transferring to the airport.
