The Rio Claro Natural Reserve was founded in 1970 in order to promote sustainable development and to protect Central Colombia’s last surviving tropical rainforests in the Rio Claro Canyon.
The reserve is home to important research, education, and conservation efforts, and offers ecotourism in Colombia and outdoor recreation activities that directly fund the reserve’s conservation work. Go whitewater rafting, take a zip-line through the lush tropical canopy, or go spelunking (cave exploring) in the canyon’s stunning cave system.
