Begin your Medellín City Tour with hotel pick-up and transfer to Pueblito Paisa, a Medellín neighborhood designed in the style of a classic Antioquian village, complete with whitewashed facades, large hardwood doors, a stunning colonial church, and classic city hall. Set atop Nutibara Hill, Pueblito Paisa is a charming getaway from the bustle of Medellín, and provides stunnign panoramas of the city below.
From Pueblito Paisa, travel along the tree-lined avenues of Laureles to reach downtown. If you’d like, stop and stay a while in the bustling “foodie” district for a traditional Colombian meal.
Your next stop is Plaza Botero, right in the center of Medellín. Here discover the unique statues of famous Colombian artist Fernando Botero. Familiarize yourself with his iconic style with exaggerated features to demonstrate the artist’s sense of humor, irony, and criticism.
Afterwards, admire the world’s largest collection of Botero’s paintings in the adjacent Art Museum of Antioquia. Here you’ll also have the opportunity to view pre-Hispanic, colonial, and contemporary art.
Next walk a short distance to Berrío square, where you’ll learn the history of Pedro Justo Berrío, the former governor of Antioquia and an important political figure in the region.
From there, walk Junin Passage where you’ll experience the bustling day-to-day life of Medellín. Here, street vendors, local shops, and commuters dominate the busy landscape. Here, you’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant for a truly authentic Colombian meal.
After lunch, walk to Plaza de Bolívar and encounter the breathtaking Cathedral of Medellin. Here, hear local tango singers sing together.
