In this 8 days/7 nights Medellin cycling tour, we will visit historical and traditional towns, try some amazing traditional Colombian cuisine, cycle through flower fields and climb the highest mountain in the world that can scale on road bike, this is “Alto de Letras”. Itinerary

Day 0 – Welcome trip

On our first day of our Medellin cycling tour, we will talk about the details of the rides, while we enjoy typical Colombian food.

Day 1 – Santa Elena & Medellín

Our tour starts with us riding to the Flowers Village in Santa Elena. Our ride includes a well-known category 2 climb and a series of leg burning risers and an endless supply of vertical makes for a unique riding destination year round.
After this, we will take the cable car down to Medellín.

Day 2 – Rio Claro

Starting at 2,600 meters above sea level and then go down to 500 meters, passing through all the climatic zones and
vegetation. We will arrive to a natural reserve where we will have lunch and we can swim in the river. Our day ends with you resting in a beautiful room in the middle of the jungle.

Day 3 – Honda

We will ride to a beautiful heritage town that takes its name from the Ondaimas, the indigenous people that inhabited the banks of the Magdalena river. Honda is called “the City of Bridges” with more than 40 of them on the rivers Magdalena. Enjoy this beautiful place while you prepare yourself for next day big challenge.

Day 4 – Alto de Letras

This is a big challenge day! We are going to ride the longest climb in the world. Don’t worry about water, granolas, banana or supplies, our support vehicle is ready to help at all times. Your effort, sweat and suffer, will be rewarded with the amazing landscapes, little towns alongside the road, smells, vegetation and much more we will find on ours way.
After we’ve met our challenge, we will have a well-deserved relax moment in natural hot spring pools.

Day 5 – Pereira

Pereira is one of the three cities that compose the Colombian Coffee Triangle. Like its neighboring cities: Armenia and Manizales, Pereira is surrounded by stunning, varied scenery and boasts incredible natural resources.

Day 6 – Finlandia

Set on highlands surrounded by coffee plantations, this traditional village is known also as The Illuminated Hill of the Andes, where you can start several treks to waterfalls & rivers, tour coffee plantations, etc. Hop on a Yipao (typical jeep) & drive through beautiful scenery!
Distance: 56,3 km, Elevation Gain: 1.334 m.

Day 7 – Salento

This small town survives on coffee production, trout farming and tourists who are drawn by its quaint streets, typical paisa architecture and its proximity to the spectacular Valle de Cocora.

Day 8 – Departure Day

You have 2 options

  1. Flight from Pereira to Medellín:  We will spend the afternoon ar our headquarters where you can pack and a transfer will pick you up and take you to the airport
  2. Flight from Pereira to the home destination

What’s Included

  • All breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are expensed by Colombia Cycling.
  • All lodgings are included in a double accommodation room.
  • Transport service from the airport to the hotel the day of arrival and
    departure
  • During the rides, we offer water, electrolytes, pre-race and recovery
    drinks, cereal bars, fruits and juices
  • All bike servicing, including one standard tune-ups, is provided by
    certified camp staff.
  • Support vehicle
  • English, Spanish, Italian and French guides.

 

Important Notes

  • Should there be any mechanical failures at fault of the owner resulting in replacement of components, the camp will supply necessary replacements at owners expense free of service.
  • Owners are responsible for ensuring that bikes are fully functional, structurally sound and safe to ride prior to camp dates to prevent possible failures.
  • All riders are expected to exercise cycling etiquette ensuring the safety for all camp members. Our goal is to provide a fun, memorable and safe experience
