Start Location: Hotel pick-up in Medellín
End Location: Santo Domingo Metro Station
Begin your day with hotel pick-up and transfer via public transportation to the Park of Wishes. This new public space offers free programming and brings people together from across class and community.
From there, set out on the city’s high-flying public cable cars that connect rural communities to the city — and take in the stunning panoramas that accompany the ride. Take a ride the outdoor escalator systems that have transformed daily commutes for thousands of residents living in the city’s northern hills.
Discover the city’s history through a tour of its urban art, and visit the revitalized Santo Domingo District. Here, see how public libraries, daycare, and parks have provided opportunities to local residents and strengthened the community’s economy and social structure.
After that, head to the Botanical Garden, a spectacular expanse of green in the middle of downtown Medellín, and home to over 1000 plant species! Admire the award-winning orchid green house and spectacular modern architecture.
End the day at a local coffee shop for hot cup of famous Colombian coffee and a local pastry. Located in one of the city’s most economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, the cafe was opened by local entrepreneurs and social innovators to bring opportunities to the neighborhood.
From there, your guide will help you to navigate the public transportation system back to your hotel, or help to call a cab.
On Mondays, Arví Park is closed. For this portion of the trip, you’ll visit the city center.
