Tour Type: Overnight tour from Medellín
Begin your overnight trip from Medellín with hotel pick-up and transfer 2 hours into the Antioquian countryside. Make your first stop along the Bridge to the West suspension bridge. Finished in 1895 after over 100 years of construction, the bridge with the 7th longest in the world at the time of its completion.
The remarkable construction is underscored by the remoteness of the surrounding landscape, and a walk across the bridge provides spectacular views of the Cauca River below.
From the Bridge to the West, continue your journey onward to Santa Fé de Antioquia. Arrive at the main square for a look at grandiose colonial downtown of the region’s former capital. Stroll past the plaza’s stunning fountain, past street vendors selling goods, and along cobblestone streets to a local restaurant for lunch.
In the afternoon, take a closer look at the city’s colonial structures and stop in at several picturesque churches as well as the local history museum.
To end the day, you’ll drive from Santa Fé 3 hours to Jardín, where you’ll spend the night at the Hotel La Casona, a colonial-era mansion converted into a charming hotel. Make yourself comfortable at the hotel and take the evening to explore Jardín, grab dinner on the town, and relax.
The following morning, start the day with a typical Colombian breakfast, then set out to explore more of Jardín and its surroundings. Admire the hand-painted building that adorn the downtown, then take a cable car ride from the village into the nearby mountains for a stunning look at Jardín from above.
From the mountain top, set out for a true, must-have Colombian experience — a traditional coffee farm tour. Explore the farm and production facilities, and discover the science, art, and plain hard work that goes into growing, harvesting, processing, and roasting a spectacular cup of Colombian coffee.
Take mental notes as your coffee farmer guide takes you through the steps of brewing a perfect cup of coffee — and enjoy the aromatic, bold, and simply delicious result! Enjoy lunch at the farm with the region’s freshest ingredients, then set out for your return trip to Medellín.
Museums in Santa Fé de Antioquia are closed on Wednesdays.
