This full day tour combines as much of the best of the Arenal area as you can fit into one day!
Your day begins with a choice between visiting the Arenal Hanging Bridges (which walk you through the rainforest at canopy level) or floating a river and looking for wildlife. Either way, you will be accompanied by a bilingual naturalist guide, who will help you spot exotic animals and plants, and explain how these fascinating ecosystems function.
After your morning excursion, you will head to the 75 meter (250 foot) La Fortuna Waterfall via a 20 minute hike through the rainforest. There, you will have a chance to relax in the tranquil environment and swim in the pristine pool beneath the falls. You will have lunch along the La Fortuna River.
After lunch, you head to Arenal National Park, where your guide will tell you about the wildlife that resides there, as well as the recent volcanic activity and how it affects the ecosystem.
The day ends at the Tabacon hot springs, where you can relax mind and body near the base of the mighty Arenal Volcano.
Tabacon Hot Springs
These springs are 97% rain-based and 3% magma-based. The rainwater flows through the earth’s fissures, gets heated by magma in the core, then rises to the surface, bringing earth’s minerals with it to create a natural spring. There are five such springs at Tabacon, completely naturally fed (i.e. no pumps or drills), with temperatures from 77 F to 122 F (25 C to 50 C).
