The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge is one of the best places in the world for bird watching. It’s also home to a variety of incredible animals, such as sloths, three types of monkeys, caimans, lizards, bats, and a ton of flora native to the wetlands. This tour leaves from Bijagua and travels approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to Los Chiles, a quaint rural village just three kilometers from the Nicaraguan border. Then you will start you boat ride to the wetlands. On the way, you’ll be able to see a variety of bird and animal species. Around noon, you’ll stop along the river for a traditional Costa Rican lunch, before heading back to Los Chiles to catch a bus back to Bijagua.
