Description

Start the day with a hotel pick up, then sit back and relax for the one hour journey to the Sierpe River which holds one of the largest mangrove Systems in Central America – the Terraba-Sierpe mangroves. The mangroves are inhabited by countless flora and fauna, which your guide will help you discover along with telling you about the cultural heritage of the mangroves. Bird lovers be prepared. You’re likely to spot an abundance of birdlife, including Herons, Egrets, Ospreys, Scarlet Macaws, and more. The tree tops also hold four species of monkey who call this beautiful place home, the White-Faced, Howler, Spider and Squirrel monkeys. Take a look down and you might just see crocodiles swimming in the river with you!

The tour begins in Uvita, where you will enjoy a refreshing fruit juice (made with seasonal fruit) and a snack. You will then take a short walk to Ballena Bay, the entrance to Ballena National Marine Park, and catch a boat that will take you through the channels of Boca Coronado to the mouth of the mighty Terraba Great River. Here, you will enter one of the largest mangrove Systems in Central America – the Terraba-Sierpe mangroves. The mangroves are inhabited by countless flora and fauna, which your guide will help you discover along with telling you about the cultural heritage of the mangroves. Bird lovers be prepared. You’re likely to spot an abundance of birdlife, including Herons, Egrets, Ospreys, Scarlet Macaws, and more.
