Walk along the trails of the most visited park in Costa Rica, at the intersection of dry tropical forest with the rainforest, which boasts numerous species of mammals and birds. A naturalist guide will make your journey more interesting, pointing out to the native wildlife, including sloths, spider, howler and white faced monkeys. You’ll also have the chance to relax on the splendid Playa Manuel Antonio, on the white sand with the crystal clear waters in view. Tasty fruits and refreshments await after ending this park tour.
With about 900 hectares and 12 rocky islets, Manuel Antonio National Park is one of Costa Rica’s smallest national parks, yet it is home to over 400 species of birds, as well as armadillos, monkeys, sloths, agoutis, iguanas, and racoons. The tour begins on the tombolo – a natural isthmus created by the accumulation of sedimentary material that connects to Punta Cathedral (which used to be an island). Across the tombolo, you will reach Playa Manuel Antonio, where you can stroll along the beach and let the gently crashing waves disconnect you from the stresses of daily life. From the beach, you will hike up to a lookout point, which has incredible panoramic views of Puerto Escondido and Punta Serrucho. You will then continue along the peaceful Perezoso Trail (Sloth Trail), which is rife with exotic local wildlife, including coatis, white-faced monkeys, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, and many species of birds. Your bilingual naturalist guide will help you spot as many animals as possible! The tour concludes with fruits and drinks at a local beachfront restaurant.
