You will begin the Tirimbina Chocolate Tour by crossing the Braulio Carrillo Cloud Forest National Park and into the Sarapiqui Zone and the Tirimbina Reserve – 346 hectares of pristine, protected rainforest. The area is home to over 420 species of birds, including parrots, parakeets, herons, toucans, and many more. Here you will also learn about the cultural and historical significance of cacao, as well as the process of turning this bean into chocolate, including: harvesting, fermenting, drying, grinding, and serving. You will also have a chance to sample some of the different organic chocolate products produced by the local Women’s Association of Amazilia.
