Duration:Â Full Day
Start/End Location:Â Hotel pick-up/drop-off in Cuenca
Our journey begins at 7:00 a.m., where we will travel from your hotel in Cuenca to Alausi, Ecuador. After arriving you will have the opportunity to tour the cozy town’s main square and local market at your leisure.
At 11 a.m., we will then board the train to begin our journey along what was once considered the most difficult stretch of railway in world. Our ride will last around 2 hours and 30 minutes as we venture towards the famous Devil’s Nose mountain landscape. Along the way we will make a 30 minute stop at the Sibambe train station for an opportunity to browse local artisan crafts and watch a traditional dance.
After lunch, we will continue our adventure by heading to the Ingapirca archaeological complex. Once at the site, a guide will offer interesting information about the Cañari and Inca cultures. See the Cañari and Inca sectors of the site, and marvel at the unique elliptical Temple of the Sun. With luck, we will also have the chance to see the sacred animals of the Inca Empire — llamas and alpacas.
After you book your experience, you will receive a confirmation email from us confirming that your payment went through. You will then be connected directly to the tour operator, in case you have any further questions. We are also happy to answer any questions about the tour, or travel in general in your country of destination.
