Experience a Ceremony of the Indigenous People of Ecuador

The retreats are sacred spaces where the human being has the opportunity to live a sacred experience of spirituality, healing, and empowerment. When you retire, you give yourself the pause you need in the walk of your daily tasks to find yourself in a deeper and more direct way.

Duration: 6 days
Start time:  8:00 am
Start/End Location: Quito
Difficulty: There is a lot of walking, therefore, you must be physically fit.
Miscellaneous: This tour requires a minimum of 4 people.  

Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome!

The trip will begin at 8:00 am. You will be welcomed by the Yachak and you will receive a bracelet as a souvenir of the adventure you are starting. Before departure, you will have to check with the guide that you have everything required for the trip. Then, you will go to the community of San Clemente where every participant will be given the opportunity to introduce himself/herself on a voluntary basis. After that, you will take the Andean breakfast of the Indigenous people of Ecuador.

After breakfast, your guide will provide you with some information regarding the ceremony with Wachuma, how it works and how to carry the process. Then, there will be a time to rest and get acclimated. You will also hear tales and legends related to the Indigenous people of Ecuador.

** Night in Hostal San Clemente, Meals: Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner

Day 2: Finding your purpose 

After a light breakfast, the guide will check your luggage to see if you have everything needed for the Opening of the first Ceremony. Then, the guide will remind you of your own purpose for the pilgrimage. If you do not have a purpose, the sacred plant will give you one during the ceremony.

You will begin your journey with the help of the sacred plant taking the first amount of Wachuma UKU PACHA. You will then walk to the second point accompanied by the Andean melody. Once you have reached this second point, KAY PACHA, you will take the second amount of Wachuma before starting the walk to the third point, HANAN PACHA.

Once the road is over, there will be a time of introspection for each of the participants voluntarily. You will then share a meal, a pamba mesa before going back to the second point and then to the first point accompanied by Andean melodies.

Day 3: Moving to the Lagunas de Mojanda

After breakfast, you will move to the Lagunas de Mojanda. Before starting the walk, you will take the same amount of Wachuma as the first day. At each point, you will take this same amount. At the final point, you will also have a time of introspection.

** Night in Cabañas de las Lagunas de Mojanda, Meals: B/L/D

Day 4: Discovering Corazón volcano

You will take the breakfast and get ready to visit the next point of the ceremony. You will go to El Volcán Corazón where you will stay in community cabins and have time to accommodate all your belongings before starting the walk.

**Night in Cabañas Angochagua, Meals: B/L/D

Day 5: Taking a new step in the Ceremony

After breakfast, you will get ready to visit the next point of the ceremony. Then, you will move to El Cayambe where you will stay in community cabins and will have a bit of time before starting the walk. You will again take a certain amount of Wachuma until the final point; There will be time for an introspection before starting the return.

Day 6: Eating the Indigenous People of Ecuador Lunch

As usual, you will start this last day with your breakfast. You will then be able to visit Otavalo before eating an Andean Lunch. Then, in the afternoon, you will proceed with the delivery of offering to the Apus Follow, the reading of the coca leaves and the Intiraymi dance. To say goodbye, your guide will leave you a scarf of remembrance of the ceremony of empowerment.

You will share a pamba mesa and then continue with the circle to share the experience of this day on a voluntary basis.
