The destination of your Teotihuacan tour will be to the Three Cultures (Tlatelolco). The name is a recognition of the three predominant periods of Mexico’s history ― pre-Columbian, Spanial colonial, and the independent “mestizo” nation. You will visit a popular silver workshop that was created by local artists. To this day the workshop still produces silver in accordance with tradition. Mexico has held the title of “worlds largest silver producer” for the past several years, so as you can imagine, this is a very important product in this part of the world.
Later in the day, you will visit the Basílica de Guadalupe. Here you will see the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the most visited Catholic pilgrimage site in the world, and the second most visited place in the world, after the Vatican. The site was recognized as a Canonical Coronation on October 12, 1895 by Pope Leo XIII.
Midday you’ll wake up with a tasting of delicious Mexican tequila before moving on to the obsidian workshop-museum. Here you will learn about the value and use of natural resources that have been used since before pre-Hispanic times. Lastly, you will learn about the history and origin of one of the most important civilizations in Mesoamerica. (Here you can dine at the restaurant at your own expense and discover some of the very best Mexican cuisine.)
