On this Calakmul Ruins Day Trip, journey to one of the largest ecological reserves in Mexico to discover Calakmul, one of the oldest, largest Mayan sites. This UNESCO World Heritage Site contains more than 6,500 ancient structures and one of the tallest Mayan pyramids in Mexico. In its heyday, it was one of the capitals of the Mayan world.
In addition to fascinating history, you’ll also be able to witness exotic jungle wildlife such as monkeys, toucans, turkeys, deer, and even jaguars and pumas. Join us for an unforgettable day combining archaeology and adventure!

After being picked up from your hotel at about 8:30 am, you will go on a 3.5-hour drive to the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. Walk on the trails of the reserve for about 3.5 hours, learning about the uses of the buildings and the history of the Mayan Classic period, in which this city thrived. After that, you will enjoy a meal and return to Bacalar, where you will be dropped off at your hotel at about 19:30 pm.
