Dolores de Olmedo, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera Museum Tours in Xochimilco

Highlights

Visit three museums in one day of Dolores de Olmedo, Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Finish up with a cultural walk through Xochimilco.

Description

You will tour the main avenues of Xochimilco where you can admire beautiful architectural works on the journey. You will then visit the blue-painted museum house of Frida Kahlo. Here you will see where she was born, lived and died as one of the most controversial women in the history of Mexico. You will be able to see her furniture and learn about her lifestyle and paintings to get an understanding of her art style that inspired people internationally.

Next up you will visit the Museum of Dolores Olmedo (a great friend of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera). You will see her impressive house-museum where complete works of Diego, Frida, and Bellof can be seen, amongst many other artists’ temporary exhibition displays. Many include garden pictures as well as exotic animals like the dog xoloitzcuintle among others, displaying living, cultural art that is a must-see on your visit to Mexico.

You will then visit the Diego Rivera Museum and will be impressed by the majestic building that shows the space and architecture where Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera lived. The building is recognized for its simplicity and its importance in Mexican art because of Master Rivera’s creations here.

Finally you will take a tour in Xochimilco. Here you will enjoy a unique view and cultural walk south of the city where the Pre-Hispanic Mexican architecture is observed while enjoying music from Mariachi, Marimba, Threesomes, and Northerners, as well as typical food. You will then travel in a Trajinera boat where you can enjoy the natural beauty created by the system of chinampas (floating islands) that will make you feel Xochimilco holds the magical past of Mexico.
