Itinerary

Your La Paz nature tour begins early in the morning at the La Paz tourist pier for a short boat ride to the whale shark observation zone. Whale sharks come here to feed on plankton, krill, and other small marine life during their summer migration.

Along the way, your naturalist guide will introduce you to whale shark ecology, natural history, and the ongoing conservation efforts to protect these gentle giants. Upon arrival to the whale shark observation site, you’ll have the awesome opportunity to see the world’s largest fish up close. If you’re feeling adventurous, join your naturalist guide in the water for a guided snorkel alongside the whale sharks!

From the whale shark observation zone, hop back in the boat and continue onward to Espíritu Santo Island. As your captain navigates along the island’s shores, your bilingual guide will brief you on the history of this important UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Dock along a secluded beach for a delicious seaside lunch, then continue onward to visit the resident sea lion colony.

Here, jump into the water with your guide to watch these friendly and curious sea lions up close! During sea lion mating period (June – September), sea lion observation will occur from aboard the boat. From the sea lion rookery, travel to a third snorkeling site to swim with spectacular tropical fish. Return to the island for free time to hike trails and explore the island.
