Tour information

Duration: 4 hours (9:30 am to 13:30 pm)
Start and end location: Solferino
Availability: Year-round

When you arrive to the reception area in Solferino, your Maya tours will start as you receive a bracelet and meet your guide. Your guide will lead you to the Casa de los Aluxes and conduct a Purification Ceremony. You will learn about the Maya worldview and give an offering as a sign of respect for the beliefs of this civilization. Then, your guide will lead you to the locker area to store your belongings and valuables.

Then, you will hear information about the activities and security measures for the Maya tours. After receiving your equipment, you can follow your guide in an all-terrain vehicle to the Panoramic Tower. The tower has 2 observation platforms, one at 33 feet (10 meters) and the second at 66 feet (20 meters). It has a spectacular view above the treetops of the jungle.

Upon leaving the Panoramic Tower, you will get to visit our Historical Museum and learn about the history of the Mayans, the Solferino region, the dyewood trees, and the flora and fauna of the Mayan jungle. Then, you will admire one of the main activities that the region has had for 100 years in the Chiclero Camp.

Time to drive the ATVs again! From there, you will begin a journey to the Casa Maya where you will learn how to make tortillas in the traditional way. You will also see how beans are cooked, the main food of the Maya ancestors. In the courtyard of the Casa Maya is the Interactive Natural Museum, where you will interact with a vast collection of insects, tropical woods, seeds, and more.

To continue your expedition, you will drive to the Ecological Water Treatment Plant and the
Reforestation nursery. Then, you will enter the Medicinal Garden, a place dedicated to the conservation of medicinal plants and knowledge about their properties and uses.

Next, you will drive to the Meliponario to see and learn all about the stingless Mayan bees, which produce medicinal honey. Your guide will then show you to the Main Palapa (pavilion), where you will enjoy a delicious meal for an hour and have another hour to swim in the pool.

Finally, your guide will lead you to the Kanches, or Elevated Gardens. This is where the Closing Ceremony will take place and your Maya tours will come to an end.
