When you talk about Mexico, it is hard to escape the mention of the Maya civilization. Embark on a Mayan tour and travel through history to gain a better understanding of the traditional activities of an authentic Mayan community, such as the “Milpa” ceremony. You will learn from elders of the community, who will serve as your guides on this tour.

Begin your Mayan adventure with a traditional “Milpa,” where you will be received by a Mayan priest at an offering ceremony called “Primicia” (which means fruits of the earth), allowing you to gain a better understanding of the different seeds and fruits that are harvested in the traditional “Milpa.”
Next, learn the artisanal skill of extracting henequen fiber from agave. This important fiber, known as “green gold,” is used to make henequen yarn. An elder will teach you the process and invite you to participate.
Cap off this Mayan adventure by learning about Melipona bees. This important species is referenced in Mayan temples and ancient codices. Learn about the bees’ role in rituals, medicine, artisanal work, and basic day-to-day life.
