Day 1 – Arrive to Oaxaca and Explore the Historical City Center
Once you arrive to Oaxaca’s airport, you will meet our staff and they will transport you to the Oaxaca’s historical city center. After that, you will have a free evening. We recommend visiting the Benito Juarez Market, November 20, or the historical center. Hotel: Casona Oaxaca or similar

Day 2 – Enter the Mountains of Northern Oaxaca
After a filling breakfast, your Mexico Bike Tour starts as you travel to Pueblos Mancomunados in the mountains of northern Oaxaca. From there, you will go to the Llano Grande cabins, where you will enjoy lunch and dinner, then rest for the evening. Hotel: Llano Grande or similar (B/L/D)

Day 3 – Bike in the Mountains of the Sierra Norte Region and Enjoy Spectacular Scenery
At 4:30 am, you will start an amazing adventure, biking in the moonlight before the sun rises. Cross the mountains and enjoy the sight and scent of pine trees as you ride to “El Mirador,” a lookout point perfect for watching the sunrise.

After breakfast, including coffee and chocolate, you will go towards “Cueva de la Iglesia” (Cave Church), a path with both wide and narrow roads. Then, you will go into the forest and admire panoramic views of “Sierra Norte.” Along the way, you will marvel at a fascinating variety of flora and fauna and a stunning lake at the “Nevería.” There, you will rest and enjoy a picnic lunch. By the end of the day, you will return to the Llano Grande Community. Hotel: Llano Grande or similar (B/L)

Day 4 – Peddle past Waterfalls and Descend through Forests to Amatlán
For the fourth day of your Mexico Bike Tour, you will take the route “Sendero Encantado.” Discover the unparalleled natural beauty of the Mancomunados villages on different trails. Along the way, you’ll see gorgeous waterfalls descending from tall mountains.

Next, you’ll continue on the Ka-Yezzi-Daa-Vii route, descending 2,953 feet (900 meters) on both narrow and wide roads, through pine-oak and bromelias forests. In the town of Amatlán, you’ll enjoy a picnic. Then, you’ll continue biking on the “ex-haciendas” route to Amatlán’s ecotourism center. You’ll have lunch in the Lachatao Community and have an opportunity to visit the church and museum before returning to Llano Grande. Hotel: Llano Grande or similar (B/L/D)

Day 5 – Discover Latuvi and Enjoy Biking the Exciting “Camino Real” Route
Discover an exciting cycling trail, the “Mirador la Chucharilla” route, which brings you to Latuvi, another community of the Pueblos Mancomunados. You’ll love the combination of unique track and wide path as you descend to the river “Cara de Leon.”

After a picnic, you will continue along the “Camino Real” route. This path dates from pre-Hispanic times and leads you through rocky roads, along rivers, and in ghost forests (trees covered with white moss). Then, you’ll take a break for lunch at San Miguel Amatlán before continuing on the “Haciendas” route. If you like, you can take a photography tour of Las Haciendas. Hotel: Ecotourism Center Cabañas Amatlán or similar (B/L)

Day 6 – Have a Blast on a Curvy Downhill Mountain Biking Track
On Day 6 of your Mexico Bike Tour, you’ll have breakfast in Benito Juarez. Then, start a mountain biking ride on 4.3 miles (7 km) of land full of curves. Then, get ready for an extreme 11-mile (18-km) descent through deciduous forests and by rivers to the town of Tlalixtac of Cabrerara and Santa Maria del Tule. The route is 85% single track and 15% curvy road. Hotel: Casona Oaxaca or similar (B/L/D)

Day 7 – Choose your Biking Route and Visit a Waterfall
After breakfast, you’ll take a 1-hour van ride to the Oaxaca community “Assumption Nochixtlan.” From there, you’ll start a biking tour to Santiago Apoala en la Mixteca. You can choose between 3 routes according to your level, each with a variety of ups and downs. You’ll pass through the small villages of Santiago Amatlán, Fortin el Alto, and San Miguel Chicahua.

After a chance to rest and eat lunch, you will walk to a small waterfall “La Cola de la Serpiente” (Serpent’s Tail) in Apoala (entrance fees included). There, you can take photos and swim. Hotel: Community Ecotourism Yutsa To`on of Santiago de Apoala or similar. (B)

Day 8 – Hike in a Deep Canyon and Return to the City of Oaxaca
In the morning, you will walk for about an hour upriver to a magnificent part of a canyon near Apoala. There, the walls reach heights of more than 656 feet (200 meters). After admiring the fantastic scenery, you will return to the village for breakfast and prepare for departure.

Today, you will bike for 28 miles (45 km), enjoying ups and downs as you go through a bromeliad forest. Along the way, you will visit San Pedro Jocotipac, a city in the mountains with huge cacti. You’ll have lunch there before returning to the city of Oaxaca. Hotel: Casona Oaxaca or similar. (B/L/D)

Day 9 – See an Ancient Tree and Visit a Famous Weaving Village
To finish up your cycling expedition, you will visit some main attractions of Oaxaca. After breakfast, you will go to Santa Maria del Tule to see the legendary ancient tree “Ahuahuete.” Then, you’ll bike along dirt roads to visit different communities, including Teotitlan del Valle. In this famous weaving village, Josefina and her family will give you a demonstration of traditional art of the city. Hotel: Casona Oaxaca or similar. (B/L/D)

Day 10 – Go to the Oaxaca Airport
After breakfast, your Mexico Bike Tour will come to an end as you are transferred to the airport for your flight back home. (B)
