Feed your curiosity in the Mexico day trip discovering attractive Mayan histories and cultures in Izamal and Valladolid

Have you ever felt curious about the famous Mayan histories and cultures? By visiting two cities in this Mexico day trip – Izamal and Valladolid, you will surprisingly discover more interesting Yucatecans’ ancient traces.

Izamal is a historical city located in the east of Merida. With three historic periods: the archeological pyramids which are the foundation of Mayan heritage, the convent which is an incredible mark of Spanish influence, and the inhabitants – Yucatecans, who are proud of their own cultures. Therefore, Izama is hailed as “City of the Three Cultures”.

On the other hand, you will visit the capital of the east – Valladolid. It is another historical and heroic city which is farther from Merida. Two large passages of the history happened here – The War of the Castes in 1847 in which the Maya Indians rebelled against the unjustified ruling system; and the First Spark of the Mexican Revolution in 1910. Thus, Valladolid was a colonial city with great dignity and beauty. Besides, what worth to highlight is its harmonious composition of civil and religious architecture, such as the convent fortified by San Bernardino de Siena built in the 16th century and the cathedral of San Gervasio which is a classic Baroque architecture in the 18th century.

With only 2 hours away from Merida, the two cities offer you a special Mayan experience. Come and join us to enjoy the amazing day trip in Pueblos Magicos!
