On this Swimming with Whale Sharks Tour, encounter incredible wildlife in the waters around Cancun. For 4 days of your 7-day experience, you will embark on boat trips to the area where whale sharks gather to feed on plankton. Then, you will be able to snorkel with the gentle giants. If you are the first one to spot a particular whale shark, you will be able to analyze it and give it a name. In addition to seeing and learning about whale sharks, you could also see mobulas, golden cownose rays, manta rays, and dolphins.

Over the past ten years, Cancun has become the best place to spot whale sharks as they migrate to the region between May and September. The ideal viewing spot is only a one-hour boat ride away from Cancun.

Day 1 – Arrive to Cancun
Once you get to Cancun, the best place to spot whale sharks, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 2-5 – Snorkel with Whale Sharks and Spot Other Marine Life
Over four days, you will go on boat trips to find whale sharks. The boat will take you to areas where the whale sharks eat plankton. Rafael de la Parra, a whale shark researcher, will guide you and tell you all about the whale sharks and their environment. In addition to whale sharks, you could see dolphins, manta rays, sailfish, and sea turtles.

Day 6 – Enjoy a Free Day In and Around Cancun
Take advantage of the multiple options of things to do in Cancun and in the surrounding areas. You could visit Chichen Itza or Tulum to see fascinating ruins. Another option is relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Cancun.

Day 7 – Depart to the Cancun Airport
Your Swimming with Whale Sharks Tour comes to an end as you are transported to the Cancun airport.

  • This tour has a maximum of 10 travelers. If you have more than 10, contact us at and we will try to find a group for you.
  • Pregnant women and children under 5 years old will not be able to participate in this tour. If you wish to include children, please let us know when you are booking.
  • We cannot guarantee that you will be able to see the whale sharks and snorkel with them. Whale sharks come to Cancun to feed on plankton. When there is not much plankton, there are few or no whale sharks in the area. We recommend booking between mid-June and August for the highest possibility of seeing whale sharks.
