On this 8-day excursion from San Miguel de Allende to the traditional silversmithing city of Taxco and Mexico City historic center, explore two of Mexico’s most representative and iconic locations.

Begin your tour traveling from Mexico City to Taxco, a picturesque, “Magic Village” with cobblestone-streets and surrounded by steep hills and lush forests. Here, you’ll take part in Taxco’s famous International Silver Festival. Experience this bustling celebration of art and artisans, and meet prize-winning artists who create stunning art, jewelry, and other craft work from silver.

Taxco is famous for the silver craft work that was revitalized by William Spratling and his team of local Mexican silversmiths in 1929. His movement became world renown due to his use of exquisite pre-Columbian motifs and the creativity and excellent workmanship of his silversmiths.

In Taxco, visit the Spratling Ranch for a look at silversmithing’s past and present. Stop at the weekly Silver Market and stroll the stalls and private galleries for finely crafted Taxco silverwork. Whether you’re a jeweler, a collector, or you just admire well-crafted jewelery, you’ll love immersing yourself in the silver splendor of Taxo.

The second part of the journey will take you to the heart of Mexico City’s historical center.
