Explore the beautiful Chagres and Gatun Locks of Panama on this all-inclusive kayak expedition tour and end your tour with a visit to the historic Fort San Lorenzo which was once a Spanish fortress!
Experience the beautiful Gatun Lake and Chagres River in a unique way by embarking on a expedition kayaking adventure with a local community guide.
On this tour you will have the opportunity to view the wide variety of flora and fauna that exist in the area and in addition stop by the historic fortress of Fort San Lorenzo located in Chagres.
You will be inspired by the surrounding dense rainforest and then get the chance to walk back in history with a visit to the fort.
This tour will start around 7am with a pick up in Panama City. You will be transported to Gatun Dam which is about one hour and 30 minutes away to then begin kayaking in your expedition kayaks which will be provided at 8:30am.
To get around Gatun Dam you will have to cross the Panama Canal through the Gatun Locks in a vehicle and is truly a unique experience. Your guide will explain the history of the Gatun Locks in relation to the Panama Canal during your journey.
Your kayak expedition will then start and for 3-4 hours you will paddle through dense tropical rainforests to reach the open Caribbean Ocean and make a stop at Fort San Lorenzo to tour around this beautiful area.
After the Fort Lorenzo tour you will then head back towards the Capital and meet at the original pick up place at 4pm.
All our guides are trained in CPR and Kayak safety
All people from 12 to 75 are allowed who are in good health, minors must be accompanied with a responsible adult.
