Spend an amazing day riding the Panama Canal Train and getting to learn more about it and its forts. The Panama Canal Railway is one of the great train rides of the world. In this ride, we will not only view the colorful history of the canal, but we will also ride through a picturesque path across the Isthmus of Panama. Prepare to see some lush rainforests, cruising alongside the Canal’s locks, through the historic Gaillard Cut and gliding over slender causeways in Gatun Lake, it’s an amazing experience.

The day begins early with pick up at your hotel in Panama City to board the Panama Canal Railway. This historic train was originally built in 1855 in response to the gold rush in San Francisco. It was later used heavily during the construction of the Panama Canal to move people and supplies along the construction route.
Your next stop is at the Gatun Locks expansion site visitor center to learn more about how the Panama Canal was expanded for the first time in history (completed in 2016). Next up is Chagres National Park to visit the UNESCO site of Fort San Lorenzo, which was built to guard the mouth of the Chagres River. The final stop of the day is at Fort Sherman, before heading back to Panama City.
