Have you heard of the Playa Los Muertos indigenous community in Panama? Join us on a 5 days 4 nights trip to the province of Darién in eastern Panama, where you will get an invaluable opportunity to live with the Playa Los Muertos indigenous community and get to understand their daily lives.
Part of the trip involves camping in the forest, where supposedly direct contact with the Pacha Mama is at its strongest. It is also at this part of Darién National Park – a World Heritage site and also the biggest national park in Panama and Central America – where you will prepare your own food.
This tour will also allow you to take part in activities of the Playa Los Muertos community, learn about their music and dances as well as their special handicrafts.

Duration: 5 Days 4 Nights
Start/End location: Panama City, Panama
On the first day, be picked up at your hotel in Panama City to be transported to the city of Metetí in the province of eastern Panama Darién. This 5-hour ride will stop at various points of interest along the way, and you will eventually spend the night in a local hotel in Metetí.
After breakfast on the second day, you will leave for the community of Playa Los Muertos in Puerto Quimba on a community boat. You will have lunch in the community and take a tour after that to familiarize yourself with the surroundings before having a sharing session with the residents.
The third day will see you walking a trail in the jungle to a place chosen by the Emberáes indigenous community where supposedly direct contact with the Pacha Mama is at its strongest. It is also at this place where you will prepare your own food, set up your camping tent and hammocks in this Darién National Park, a World Heritage site and also the biggest national park in Panama and Central America.
The fourth day will see you taking part in activities of the community, in the areas near the Playa Los Muertos River and its surroundings, allowing you to access viewpoints and witness the waterfalls of the community. In the afternoon, you will then partake in the cultural aspect of their lives, joining them in their music and dances as well as their special handicrafts.
On the last day of the trip, after breakfast in the morning, you will depart from the port of Playa Los Muertos back to Puerto Quimba. Then you will have lunch at a local restaurant in Metetí before departing for Panama City. You will expect to arrive back in Panama City at approximately 17:30 pm.
