Isla Grande is an island in the Caribbean located in the Province of Colón, 140 km (2 hour drive) north of Panama City. It is known for its picturesque landscapes, Afro-Antillean atmosphere, clear waters and coral reefs for snorkeling. Enjoy the sun, sea, and traditional food prepared Caribbean style with coconut milk!
To complement your day you also will visit the historic town of Portobelo. Here you will explore the historic forts, which were attacked and nearly destroyed by pirates, take a walk around the town, visit the church of the Black Christ of Portobelo and learn about Afro-Antillean culture.

On the way to Island Grande, you will stop at a super market so you can buy snacks, drinks, or whatever else you need for the day. You will also drive right past the Pedro Miguel locks of the Panama Canal, where you can stop and observe transiting ships. You will also see the famous Centenario bridge, sections of Soberania National Park and the scenery of the beautiful Caribbean coast.
On the way, you will drive right past the Panama Canal with the option to stop at the Pedro Miguel Locks to observe the transit of ships. Continuing down the road you will see the Centenario Bridge, commemorating Panama’s centennial, sections of Soberania National Park and the beautiful scenery of the Caribbean coast as we get to the final stretch of our trip.
